Spring is almost here! And, with spring weather comes spring style. New wardrobes, new home styling, and of course new blooms. One simple spring home styling tip is creating new vignettes with color.
A vignette is a small assortment of items that can be a collection or random pieces they tell a story about you and how you live in the space.
Walk around your home and pick a few of the things you love. Gather them all in the area of your vignette and begin to play with placement and dimension. Layer the pieces by keeping your number of pieces odd and different shapes. Use trays to help style even a simple arrangement of flowers
If you don’t already have pieces go shopping try your local thrift shop, salvage yard, or antique store to find great pieces for every vignette. Remember, nothing too perfect the goal is to have a collected space.
For items, you love but have no room for on a surface try hanging on a wall like my luggage wall in the guest bedroom. One of the pieces of luggage belonged to my husband’s great-grandmother that one treasure began my love for luggage.
Tip: Keeping 3’s together in an arrangement of sizes and color keeps the eye engaged.
One of my favorite items for vignettes are books.
Stacking books of same color or single favorite gives texture and height to a flat table or shelf. Also, stack your collections atop books for
A Hot trend for a vignette this spring is the bar scene. Grab your lovely liquor bottle’s and fun glasses to create a little whimsy.
If you’re using a wall table or buffet grab a tray and place items.
Gather items that you will use for drinks like stirrer, mint, mixers, glasses and garnish items. Each of these adds color and texture.
Kitchen vignettes can take on another realm. Styling with food, fruit, and flowers are always staples for natural vignettes.
And, don’t forget the sweet treats for little hands after school.
Cookbooks give color and usefulness in one shot.
Add more color through fun dish towels placed on a pedestal.
The last thing I added for a little spring color vignette was this gold marble top table and art.
We have been in need of a place to drop our keys when you enter the front door so I headed out and purchased a few new pieces.
Hope you’re inspired to fly with a vignette or two. Just remember every room needs a few vignettes to create interest. Well edited details simple and refined creative style that is timeless.
