One of my favorite parts of the design is the making a space look and feel like a magazine. Now, don’t believe for a moment that the space outside of the cropped photo is magazine worthy. When I’m staging a home, I’m selling a lifestyle everyone wants a home to feel like the investment it is. When getting your home ready for sale find a great realtor and interior designer or stager. On average a staged home sells within 11 days or less at 17% more than non-staged homes.
When getting your home ready to sell the first thing to remember is every piece has a home. The organization is vital when selling your home.
Kitchen Cabinets and Pantry- If your kitchen is small and this is your top reason for selling the home don’t allow that to reflect.
The shelves/drawers are clean, and items have room to breath. Take good pots, Tupperware, and pantry items to storage to create better space. What I tell my clients at the organizing stage if you have not used the item in six months donate.
Bathrooms are the second biggest selling point next to the kitchen.
Go through the linen and everyday storage throw away and declutter. Clear off the counters, and put away your toothbrush!
Now, that the two leading sellers the bathroom and kitchen are organized, go room by room every square foot matters. Look at each room and think how I can create a moment of interest in each. Moments are set up by making the room feel larger with smaller scale pieces and sitting areas.
Adding and editing book shelves with pops of color. Move around furniture to scale of room. Give plenty of negative space.
Set your tables for dining especially if your home has a dining room. Today’s buyer is more casual, and dining rooms are a forgotten statement with busy lives dinner together has become a luxury.
In the bedroom staging keep the moments simple and inviting. Bedrooms should never have toys unless they are a children’s space.
Master bedrooms are the place to unwind and should be a refuge from a long day. Add flowers to the bedside tables and a lamp for each. I read nightly in bed.
Last, but not least in staging is the curb appeal of your home. With today’s online market 63% of home buyers view the outside of your home without a realtor. Make it shine! Landscape, add seasonal flower to pots and check for structural paint and maintenance needs.
